Now since this is the case, it follows to consider thoughtfully the chief point spoken here in the proverb. “The Lord created me as the beginning of his ways for his works” (Pro 8:22). For our Lord God truly created when he made what did had not existed. For he “created as the beginning of his ways” (Pro 8:22) not flesh which already existed and was then assumed by the Word but flesh which did not already exist.
