The tables below are reproductions of the charts found in chapter V of The New Empire of Diocletian and Constantine (Cambridge: Harvard University Press, 1982) and appendix 9 of Athanasius and Constantius: Theology and Politics in the Constantinian Empire (Cambridge: Harvard University Press, 1993) both by T.D. Barnes. In his charts, Barnes compiled all the movements and primary residences of each of the emperors of the tetrarchy from 284–361. The tables below have combined and synthesized all his charts for the individual emperors into multiple master charts sorted by year with preference given to Athanasius and Constantius in the few places where the charts differ. To further improve readability, the sources were omitted from the master charts. They can be found, along with reproductions of the original individual charts, in links below.

The tables below are adapted and reproduced with permission from T.D. Barnes, The New Empire of Diocletian and Constantine (Cambridge: Harvard University Press, 1982) and T.D. Barnes, Athanasius and Constantius: Theology and Politics in the Constantinian Empire (Cambridge: Harvard University Press, 1993).
