“From eternity he laid my foundation” (Proverbs 8:23). On the one hand he calls the preordained dispensation according to his flesh a foundation, – as also the apostle says, “For no one is able to lay another foundation than the one that has been laid, that is Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 3:11) On the other hand, here he is considering an age about which he said that the foundations were laid according to Christ and yet many ages have passed as David said, “The one who is from eternity.”
