There is debate among scholars as to whether a “second session of Nicaea” happened at Nicomedia in 327. Philostorgius indicates that Arius, Euzoïus, Eusebius, and Theognis were called to Nicomedia for a council in 327, the letters Urk 29–32 and Eusebius fit this timeline. The only problem is Athanasius’ statement that Alexander died five months after the Council of Nicaea. This difficulty has led some scholars to reject a council in 327, but most accept this timeline.
