But said person, having given little thought to the holy prophets, quoted, “One God, one mediator of God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Tim 2:5) as if he had “drawn out some forbidden and unseen theology of the Apostle.” The one who both wrote these things and boasted exceedingly in the reciting of the Scriptures did not keep in mind that the most holy apostle who wrote this has also written, “Who being in the form of God did not consider being equal with God a thing to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, having been made in likeness of man and found in appearance as a man” (Phil 2:6-8). You see how, just as if by the Spirit he foresaw their wickedness, the holy apostle in another portion of Scripture wrote “as a man” and “made in the likeness of man” to stop this great blasphemy of theirs.
